Do you LOVE jigsaw puzzles?
On Sunday 3 August the Devonport Community House doors open from 12-3 for PRE-LOVED JIGSAW PUZZLE SALE you’ve been waiting for!

And….. A PUZZLE SHOWDOWN
Get your fellow puzzlers together and form a team of 4. Each team will receive an identical puzzle to complete. The winners are the FIRST team to finish! Competition starts at 1pm!

First Steps of Jewellery Making with Mahsa Kh

​What​ - This is a 5-session course designed for beginners who want to start making jewellery with artist and jewellery maker Mahsa Kheirkhah
Overview of the sessions:
  1. Making a pair of earrings with brass wire
  2. Making a necklace with beads and wire
  3. Making a ring
  4. Working with air-dry clay to create a piece of jewellery
  5. Making a brooch with resin

Learn To Make a Drum Lampshade

When- Saturday 20th July

What- Drum Lampshade Making WorkshopHave fun learning to make your own custom drum lampshade!
Spaces are limited – only 10 per class. Pre-booking essential. Choose from:
  • Small/Medium Drum (approx. 35cm – table lamp)
  • Large Drum (15"/38cm – floor or pendant)
  • Tapered Shade (mid-sized table lamp)
All materials are provided except fabric. Please bring 0.5m of standard-width cotton or linen (min. 1.35m for large drum).
Avoid silks, sheers, velvet, or heavy upholstery fabrics. If you'd like to line your shade, bring the same amount of additional fabric.
Limited fabric options may be available on the day.

Life Drawing Workshops with Sasha Alba

When - Thursday 21 August- September 11th (4 weeks)

Where - Devonport Community House- Rimu Room

​What​ - In this four week course, you will undertake a range of short and longer poses working directly with a life model.  There will be a series of exercises in pencil, aimed at equipping you with the tools to develop a drawing from life.  The course is suitable for all levels, from beginners through those with advanced drawing skills. Please note this workshop series is R18

Sasha Alba is a local Devonport artist with a BFA(hons) from the National Art School in Sydney.  She continued training in France at Studio Escalier and JSS in Civita. Sasha has extensive experience working from life.  She believes life drawing is a fundamental tool to develop your observational and drawing skills.

Be picked up from your home and taken to Devonport New World and home again. Our volunteer drivers can help you with your bags also.

Library Run
Thursdays  1.00pm- 2.30pm
Be picked up from your home and taken to the Devonport Library for an information session, library services and tea/coffee. Our volunteer driver will take you home again afterwards.
