Swap Shop - the kid, teens & adult edit

When - Sunday 3rd May 10AM - 1PM

Where - Devonport Community House

​What​ - 
It is time to swap until you drop , and refresh the whole whānau wardrobe as this year the whole house will be a swap shop! 
Get your tokens from dropping clothing to us in the weeks leading up to the event then use those tokens to swap until your heart is content!
Drop off 
Clothing must be in good condition and in quality - we're accepting kids, teens + adults (up to 15 items)
Get up to 10 tokens to use on the swap shop day
Drop off is weekdays only starting 13th April, 9AM - 3PM.
​We will not be able to accept donations outside of these times. 
ON THE DAY
Cold brew and filter coffee to fuel your swap frenzy.
One token per item - Extra items? Just $5 each.
Cash is brilliant - bring it!
We will have an eftpos machine but to speed up the lines and get you in quicker, bring your cash.

​What​ - As the seasons shift, it’s the perfect time to get creative. Join Steve Bolton this autumn for a four-week Painting & Drawing course.

Building on the foundations from last term, this course will continue to develop key skills while introducing new materials, techniques, and creative approaches to keep things fresh and inspiring.

Whether you're returning or joining for the first time, you’ll be supported to explore your own ideas at your own pace in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Little Lit Fest 2026

  • Dominic Hoey’s One-Day Intensive Workshop: Saturday 16th May | 10:00AM – 4:00PM
Where – Devonport Community House
What – Introducing Lil’ Lit Fest at the Devonport Community House this May! Join two incredible Aotearoa authors and writing mentors for hands-on workshops designed to get your pen moving and elevate your writing style.
  • Judith White: Using reality as inspiration for the fictionally challenged, Judith nurtures your confidence, craft, and storytelling skills. With decades of mentoring and facilitation experience, she’s taught writers across Auckland University Continuing Education, Toi Ora Live Trust, and the Creative Hub.
  • Dominic Hoey: Covering the core techniques of short stories and novels, Dominic guides you through character, dialogue, structure, setting, point of view, and editing. With over 25 years of experience and hundreds of students taught, his relaxed, inclusive classes welcome all writers—from beginners to experienced, including those with little or no formal education.

When - Wednesdays 2pm-4pm and Thursdays 12pm-2pm

More info- Come and enjoy playing some table tennis with your community. Balls, bats, tables and refreshments provided. Enjoy a mid day break and a run around!

Shoppers Run
Tuesdays  10am and 1pm
Be picked up from your home and taken to Devonport New World and home again. Our volunteer drivers can help you with your bags also.

Library Run
Thursdays  1.00pm- 2.30pm
Be picked up from your home and taken to the Devonport Library for an information session, library services and tea/coffee. Our volunteer driver will take you home again afterwards.

​What​ - Join our weekly Newcomers Meet-up to connect with fellow newcomers, share experiences and learn about our community. A Citizen Advice Bureau representative available at session. All welcome!

DIGITAL HELP
What - Digital Help is for anyone who is needing help with their technical device. For your iPad, tablet, laptop or phone, our technical professionals are here to answer your questions. Every Friday we will be holding these sessions (during term time) and you will be able to bring your device and questions for some one on one help.
